At the Market

Cheryl at the Market (Pasar)
Yesterday afternoon we went to the market to get a "Farm Sprayer", some veggies and pork.  All kind of things can be gotten in the one huge place. Very interesting sights and smells.

You can go to the picture page and see some other sights from the market including how we buy pork (when we can find it).

How would you answer this statement ?

"God told Satan to tempt Eve to disobey so that Adam and Eve could have sex in order to fulfill the command God gave them to multiply and fill the earth.  "

( You see when God created Adam and Eve they were not complete, they did not have the "plumbing" yet. They did not get their sexual organs at creation, but after they sinned. They were not embarrassed until after they ate the forbidden fruit. )

Please comment to leave your answer.  Let's make this interactive, fun & informative.

How would you answer these two questions I asked our 6 men.

1. Where will you go when you die?

2. What do you base your answer on? (Why?)

Please leave your answers. I will give some of their answers later on.

Teaching God's Word

We teach in a very informal setting.

We try to make most of our own teaching aids. Easy to duplicate

We also use good pictures as visual aids. They really do help.

Pray for out students. Pray for the staff as well.

Outdoor Kitchen

Beginning of Outdoor Kitchen

God is good. God is great. Thank you Lord for the food on our plates.

Maybe growing up you learned and prayed a prayer kind of like that after all your mom's hard work in the kitchen. Well, the latest project we want to share with you is our OUTDOOR KITCHEN.  Will you thank the Lord with us for this project. We have all the funds for this already and we at P2J are supplying the labor. This kitchen will be used by and for our Discipleship Center attendees. It will be fueled by wood which will save them money and its really what they are used to. The head of P2J and the head of the GIDI Church association visited the other day to see what was needed and what they could do to help. There are several "projects" needed and that they are helping with.

Again, thank you for praying for and participating in this ministry to "expand the reach" of the Gospel of Grace throughout Papua, Indonesia.

Continue to peruse, pray & participate in these projects.

Craig for the team.

Been Quiet

If you have been checking back you have noticed no added projects.  Even though this is the case, please continue to stop by and pray for the projects posted.  We have been cleaning the property up, cutting unwanted trees and trimming others. This helps keep the mosquito population down. So far 3 people (including Cheryl) have gotten malaria. Could be from the little blood suckers in our area. We want to buy a sprayer ($30-$50) and some insecticide for regular sprayings. We will let you know soon if this needs to be a "project" or if we already have enough for that.

The Garden area has been cleaned up and much of it planted with long green beans. This will help supplement the students diet.  These type of things we do have some funds for, and once the beans are full grown we can use some for the next planting.  We also bought eggplant and various greens to plant that will help with having nutritious food.

Coworker Nicho chopping away
Recently we had a short wind storm that blew down two trees. This resulted in our power being out for about 27 hours. Nico and I went down after church and lunch to see if we could help out. No chainsaw, but that axe came in handy.  We chopped what we could and then with some prodding got help moving them from some folks just hanging out and watching.

The program starts August 15th. Pray that we will have things all lined up, lessons begun and ready to teach. We will have the first few days for orientation. Once all are settled in and orientated we will begin teaching from Genesis 1:1 to the Ascension of Christ. We are planning on teaching Mon-Fri from 8-12. The plan right now is for this teaching to take 12 weeks. Afternoons will have other discipleship ministries going on. The next step will be practical ministries in local churches. After 8 weeks of this we will spend more time on teaching them how to teach.   Then practical ministries in local churches again.  We will use this rotational model over the course of 1 year.

As you can see, your prayer and participation in these projects will help advance the gospel to various parts of Papua. As the church is strengthened, discipled, trained and equipped, the Gospel of Grace will be preached.

Nicho & Jararing childrens school fees

Our former students and New Co-workers
July 26th, Updated version. Only 1 child going to school so this project just got easier for you to help complete.

Nicho and Jararing Marweri are our new co-workers. Nicho is from Papua and his wife Jararing (Jaing) is from Kalimantan. They met at our missionary training center in Sulawesi were we taught for 17 years.  They have three kids, two which are school age.  Rian (boy) is going into 2nd grade and Nindy (girl) they are trying to get into 1st grade. The decision has been made not send Nindy to school this year.  Since Rian is "moving schools" his registration is about  $60.

Their monthly school fee is about $2 per child. If you want to help them with either the registration fee or the monthly school fees that would be a great blessing and encouragement to them.

Do be praying for them and if you would like to help you can send any financial help to

Make a check out to NTM but please put a note with it that it is for Indonesian National missionary Nicholas and Jararing Marweri to help with kids schooling.

1 Project finished

Placing the well tube on the foundation of trash burner
We are thankful for the help of Nicho our co-worker and 3 guys who are on their way to our school in Manado. Working together we were able to get the trash burner finished and the whole for the ashes cleaned out. We even had a little extra cement left over. This enabled us to patch up a couple of holes in the entrance way and one in the wall separating our place from the neighboring bible school dorm. Please continue to pray about being apart of the other projects we have listed. The volley ball project will be used in our sports time during the training/discipleship program as well as the badminton project. Keep checking back and keep praying.  If you click on the "Picture" page link you can see more picts of the project's progression.

This project is now finished and being used to burn the trash at the discipleship center. Continue to pray for us here as we get things readied for the students.   Also continue to use your creativity to find ways you can participate.

Volley Ball Set up

We figure it will be about $100 for a volley ball set up. This will include the net, good ball, 1 bag of cement, sand, stones, two used tires (free hopefully) and a long pipe cut in two for the volley ball polls. The break down is like this.

1. Volley Ball Net  Rp 125,000  = $ 15
2. 1 bag of cement Rp   75,000  = $ 9
3. Sand/Rock         Rp   40,000  = $ 5
4. Long Pipe          Rp  200,000 = $ 24
5. Good Ball          Rp  400,000 = $ 48

These prices are approximate with the continuing fluctuation in the dollar vs rupiah.

If you, your church, small group, Sunday School etc. want to help with this click on "give" under "participate" to the right.   This will be a special gift for "Volley Ball Set Up". Please note that with the gift.

Thank you for your participation. As funds come in we will keep you up on the progress.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to all our friends out there.  The next project I will be working on and gathering information for will two sporting setups.   Volley Ball and badminton are two relatively inexpensive projects that you can be a part of.  Over the next week I will be getting the data and material list for these.   Thank you for praying and considering helping with these two projects.

Projects

Many of you feel you can’t give monthly but you can give from time to time. These projects are opportunities for you, your youth group, Sunday School class or any other small group to participate by giving to various projects.

Because we don’t have the means to take from our monthly support to put towards these projects we will only proceed as the Lord provides through His people, people just like you.

Ask the Lord for creative ways you can get involved as well as get others involved. Car washes, bake sales, softball tournaments, collecting & recycling cans are various ideas you can use. Don’t stop there, let your creativity flow.

Project List:

1. Paper work & Move.
With our recent move from Sulawesi to Papua, we have incurred a deficit of about  $1,800.  In August we will have to have more paper work done. We are not sure how much that will be. Once that is done, we should be able to put some aside each month to cover next years paper work.

2. Down Stairs.
Many of you have seen pictures of the house we live in.  It is on stilts and has a car port and laundry room “down stairs. We have one bathroom and limited “hanging out” room. We would like to dig and level out the rest of the underneath of the house and then put in a concrete floor. Eventually we would like to brick in that section, make a “Prophets” room, and a place the kids can have friends over and just hang out. We realize all this would have to be done in stages.  I will add more info as well as pictures in the near future.

1st Entry

I know, I know, its not real fancy title, but for a simple guy like me, you can't expect too much fancy stuff.  I will attempt to use this blog as well as www.ntm.org/craig_cassel to keep you up to date on our happenings and ministry needs. There may be some duplications from one to the other, but hopefully this will get you to pray and participate even more. We will start out focusing on "projects" for our ministry place that are needing your participation.  If you have any ideas you want to share with us, please feel free but be nice.
